Population & Workforce

Population supplies workers, troops, demand, and trade strength. Housing and migration grow the base, while labor shortages cause active buildings to share the available workforce.

Troops reduce available workers
Housing enables growth
Stability affects output
  • Available workers are population not committed as troops. When active buildings demand more labor than exists, their utilization is reduced.
  • Housing supports population growth. Starports improve passenger and migration capacity, helping people move toward available housing and opportunity.
  • Happiness, loyalty, occupation, building condition, and minimum-population requirements can all affect how much of a system's apparent capacity becomes real output.
  • Do not activate every building automatically. Concentrate scarce labor on the infrastructure that solves your current bottleneck.
  • Pair housing with useful employment and power so population growth becomes productive capacity.
  • Recruiting troops from a tight labor market has an economic cost even before their wages are paid.
